These 14 days will allow you to visit in depth the two main regions of this huge country; the highlands and the jungle. After spending some time getting to know the proud capital of Lima it is time to head to the highlands. Here we will visit the heart of the Inca land with famous sites such as Cusco, the Sacred Valley and of course the crown jewel Machu Picchu. The last 6 days we will spend in the depths of the Amazon Rainforest. You will travel to the unique city of Iquitos, only reachable by air or boat where you will have two nights before either heading to your jungle lodge or start your luxury cruise on the Amazon River itself. No matter how this will be quite the introduction to life in the jungle and on one of the largest rivers of the planet.

Day to day Itinerary

Day 1; Arrive to Lima, pickup, transfer to your hotel & overnight
On arrival to Lima you will be collected at the airport and directly taken to your hotel in the upscale neighborhood of Miraflores or Barranco. Here you can unwind after your flight and get ready for the start of your Peru journey.
Day 2; Full day exploration of Lima
In order to start your journey the right way, today we will take you on an exploration of the city of kings; Lima. Home to almost one third of the population this massive city has a lot to show for. Colonial buildings, old pre Inca temples, world class museums, the Pacific Ocean and not to forget the new star of the show; Peruvian gastronomy.
Day 3; Fly to Cusco, pickup & excursion to the Sacred Valley
Today we will collect you from your hotel in Lima for your flight to Cusco. On arrival to Cusco you will be collected and taken to the Sacred Valley, which is located on lower altitude then Cusco allowing for a better acclimatization. En route to the valley we will visit the Inca sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo as well as the famous Pisac Market. You will spend the night in the Sacred Valley
Day 4; Train journey to Machu Picchu & guided visit
Today we will collect you in the morning from your Sacred Valley Hotel and take you to the train station for your train to Machu Picchu. On arrival you will be assisted and by bus taken to this crown jewel of the Andes where you will enjoy a private guided visit. After some free time in the afternoon you can head back to town and your hotel for the night.
Day 5; Morning visit to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu and return to Cusco
On day two of your Machu Picchu visit you can head up to site in the early morning and enjoy the day at leisure in this magnificent surroundings. If available we will also include the ticket to climb Huayna Picchu. In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and return to Cusco where you will be taken to your hotel.
Day 6; Free morning and afternoon guided excursion of Cusco and the Inca sites
Today you start with a free morning to unwind and enjoy the beautiful city of Cusco. The central location of your hotel will allow you to explore this historic city center on foot. In the afternoon we will collect you for a guided visit of the city as well as the 4 impressive Inca ruins located on the outskirts of town.
Day 7; Free day to enjoy the beautiful city of Cusco
After the impressions of the last couple of days, this day is free to unwind, enjoy the beauty of Cusco on your own pace and wander through this fascinating city. With a lot of museums, great restaurants and exceptional souvenir shopping opportunities you will not have one dull moment in this city. Optionally this day you could also visit Chinchero, Maras & Moray
Day 8; Travel to Iquitos on the shores of the Amazon River
In the early morning you will be collected from your hotel and taken to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. In Lima you can then connect with your flight to Iquitos. Iquitos is one of the largest jungle cities in the world but can only be accessed by air or boat. There are no roads driving to Iquitos. On arrival to Iquitos you will be taken to your hotel in the city center and can relax the rest of the day.
Day 9; Half day Iquitos city tour and Market of Belen
In the morning we will collect you from the hotel for a half day excursion through the city of Iquitos. Iquitos grew during the height of the rubber boom for which it was an important outpost. There are still quite a few remnants of this age with typical houses from the rubber boom and even a house made out of iron designed by Eiffel himself. After the city we will head to the famous floating market of Belen. In the rainy season the market and the houses are litterally floating on the river. The afternoon is free to enjoy the city and your hotel pool.
Day 10; Start of your Amazon River adventure
Today you will be collected from your hotel and taken to the pier to embark the boat taking you to your jungle lodge. Alternatively today you will embark your luxury Amazon River Cruise. You will enjoy the jungle, and all the adventure it has to offer.
Day 11, 12 & 13; Jungle excursions and activities
Using either the lodge or your cruise ship as base, during these three days you will do some amazing excursions deep into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. Sailing the Amazon River, stopping at different location spotting wildlife such as monkeys, caimans, birds, parrots and of course the famous Pink Dolphin. These days you will be living on the rhythm of nature following the pace of the jungle.
Day 14; Morning jungle excursion, return to Iquitos and the airport
Depending on the flight schedule you may have another early morning activity after which it is time to return to Iquitos and the airport for your flight to your next destination.
